Take everything away from me but never never take my sweet Reaktor Gaugear :-D I made a bunch of tracks using sounds from this marble of a soft synth during my year in Buenos Aires. Two of the tracks are featured in a short animated story by famous argentinian animator Elena Laplana.
Listen to the tracks here.

I worked as a junior compositor on this project doing tracking, keying, 2d textures, rotoscoping and basic compositing with After Effects and Fusion for visual effects supervisor Christian Bergquist. The commercial was done with a mixture of 2d, greenscreen and 3d animation and was produced by Raw Film in Stockholm. I will post the whole commercial later.
Ikea Soft Toys Campaign
I did some of the animations in the gallery for this Ikea Soft Toys Campaign during my internship at extremely successful production company B-Reel.

I did this all CG 3D Animation intro movie for Optea AB a couple of months ago, I only had 5 days for this HD project including animation, compositing, editing and rendertime so I used already built 3D models purchased from Turbosquid and built the 3D City with excellent free Cinema 4D plugin CityGen. I also used a track of mine called "Morning After". I had some problems with the well known GI flicker error in C4D R11 but due to tremendous time pressure I just blurred everything a bit in post. It turned out alright for a 5 day production.

Work in progress - Motion Graphics Intro Movie from Juan Fernando Maguid on Vimeo.
This is related to the post Autopsy of a Failure.
Autopsy of a failure
I think failures are interesting. Painful, yes. But it's only in failure that we really learn something about ourselves and in this particular case, the industry I work in.
Company X called me and asked me if I wanted to do a motion graphics piece for their client, an event company arranging an event were the best lawyer firms in Sweden were given prices for Best Agency etc etc. I thought to myself "Yeah this sounds like my cup of coffee, I'm good at these kind of things". One thing, the timeframe was really tight, I had only a week to make a several short movies, a 30 second long intro movie, nomination and winner movies. I had nothing to go on more than "something discreet with the tone of lawyer firms". All the art work had to be created from scratch. I sat the whole weekend and send them Photoshop sketches. All was fine. They liked it. Just some changes. I started animating stuff in After Effects, moving the camera around. Still all was fine. Suddenly the client of company X dropped the whole thing just days before the event. "It will not work, it's not what we want, we want something in a party mood". "We will go to someone else because you can't deliver". Whaaaaaaaaat?!!!
What the f**k happend? Party mood? What about the strict sober lawyer business look they were talking about in the first brief? I worked my ass off putting this thing together in just a couple of days and they drop the A-Bomb on me.
I will not bore you with further details just give you some tips on how to avoid these kind of work related failures:
1. Contract.
2. Contract.
3. Get a contract. That way even if they drop the whole thing like Hiroshima you will get paid.
I will post the unfinished unpolished 30 second intro movie soon. So you can see what they rejected.

This was done while I was still studying compositing and animation @ IAA School Of Visual Arts in Eksjö. I contacted electronic maestro Håkan Lidbo and asked him if we could do a co-op, a mix between music video and short film. My lovely girlfriend Emma helped with the art work and it turned out really nice. A mix between old sci fi magazines and hand drawned art work. All done with Photoshop, pencils and good old After Effects.
